Boiling down aqueous amanita extracts to a paste also degrades ibotenic acid and muscimol but not muscarine. To minimize this problem, boil the extract down during the decarboxylation step, but don't exceed 2-3 hours boiling duration at sea level. We strongly discourage people from purchasing paste concentrates unless you trust your seller and the seller describes how the paste concentrate was produced and how it was stored over time to minimize loss of potency. Ideal storage is at at 0F in either a sealed container with an oxygen absorber packet or a vacuum-packed bag. The packets contain iron which oxidizes (rust) in the presence of oxygen, using up the oxygen.

Since ibotenic acid and muscimol are very unstable compounds, attempting to infuse Amanita extracts into gummies and chocolate bars degrades these compounds. The heat stable toxin muscarine, does not degrade, so its relative proportion to ibotenic acid and muscimol increases. The same dose of muscimol in a gummy or chocolate bar will deliver a higher dose of muscarine such that muscarines toxic effects may start manifesting. However, many gummy brands have been found to contain no Amanita alkaloids. Instead, other psychoactive compounds not listed on the label were detected, including schedule 1 DEA substances. So, we do not offer gummies or chocolate bars for sale. Many of the COA's for these products are fake. Credit card processors for Amanita stores require the posting of COA's for their Amanita products. They also charge a steep credit card processing fee. Refusing to buy into a credit card processor grifting scheme helps keep our prices lower.

Since the active compounds ibotenic acid and muscimol are very unstable, including an oxygen absorber packet in the bag for long term storage of more than two months also helps. We offer oxygen absorber packets for sale. Another very effective method of preserving potency is vacuum packing dried amanita mushrooms. All our Amanita mushroom products are vacuum packed and stored at -20 c in darkness to preserve potency. Our mushrooms are dried at no higher than 125F. Drying Amanita at higher temperatures such as 175 F, results in a lower quality product compared to dehydrating the mushrooms at 125 F.
