Tryptamine HCl powdered crystals. For research purposes only and/or growing birefringent fractal pattern crystals for viewing under cross polarized illumination. Some have mixed tryptamine with water to make a fluorescent spray on Halloween or other festive occasions. People who think they washed off the powder from their hands can later illuminate their body under a black light and see all the body parts their hands touched.

Alternate Names:

2-(3-Indolyl)ethylamine hydrochloride

Where it is legal to cultivate psilocybin mushrooms, tryptamine HCl can be added to the growth substrate of P cubensis and P mexicana at a rate of 100-150 mg Tryptamine HCl per 100 ml of water to dramatically increase the potency of the mushrooms. Higher concentrations of more than 200 mg/100 ml of water will slow or stop the colonization of the substrate.  Example: A 1 quart rye grain jar with 250 g of rye grain, 195 ml H20, 200-300 mg total tryptamine HCl addition, and 1-2 gr of gypsum. Use the same ratio for bulk substrates (100-150 mg tryptamine per 100 ml H20 added to the bulk substrate material. Tryptamine is the biosynthetic precursor to psilocyn/psilocybin and in humans -- melatonin and serotonin.

Tryptamine hydrochloride is a biogenic amine formed from the decarboxylation of tryptophan. Tryptamine is created in the human gut from the amino acid Tryptophan. Among other actions, tryptamine controls intestinal motility.
