These were harvested on Vashon Island, near Seattle Washington in Dec 2025 and Jan 2026. These are potent mixed whole mushroom caps and pieces. After harvest by somasupplies, they were carefully dried at 85-95 F and promptly vacuum packed and stored at 0F in darkness. These are very potent mushrooms. They are smaller and more fragile than muscaria. They are carefully cleaned of most forest debris. However, due to their fragile nature, there may be some grains of sand, but this is very minimal with most caps being debris free. To speed drying, they are cut in half or quarters. To harvest these elusive mushrooms, somasupplies entities crawled on very steep hills while gripping madrona branches to keep from sliding down the slope while checking every potential amanita host tree. Sometimes lifting up their lower branches like a dress to see what is hidden underneath. Cold rain and wind, rubber boots and rain proof gear, a very bright LED flash-light when out at night. Under bright LED light, amanita's stand out because they are fluorescent. Our diligent efforts to offer you a fine product from the fungal kingdom is our highest priority. These mushrooms are worth every penny. Our drying Methode results in minimally decarboxylated mushrooms. Careful decarboxylation efforts will increase potency several times.
During extraction and decarboxylation, some new variables to consider testing are:
1. Water contains dissolved oxygen. Musicmol reacts with Oxygen. Boiling the water for 30 min before adding the powdered mushrooms will remove a lot of the dissolved oxygen. During extraction and decarboxylation, try to keep the water temp just below the boiling point. The bursting bubbles are like an egg-beater mixing the muscimol in the hot water with oxygen in the atmosphere. This promotes oxidation of muscimol. Keep the pot covered. This will condense a lot of the evaporated water back to the pot returning the small 2-4% of muscimol carried off with the steam via entrainment. The lid also helps create a lower oxygen environment inside the pot. The most efficient method is using a pressure cooker. Heat your acidified filtrate (extract) at 250F for 45-60 min. You will get 30% more muscimol yield than boiling in a round bottom flask with a condenser attached. Decarboxylation at 250F is about 4X faster.
While it is possible to make a concentrated paste extract, evaporating off teh water with heat will degrade a lot of or even almost all of the muscimol. Muscimol more stable than Ibotenic acid, but muscimol is still a reactive, unstable compound. A is possible the pastes will be active, but it will cost you a lot of muscimol in the process. Important note, muscarine, a toxin, is very thermally stable. It will not degrade during a concentrating step. Muscimol will degrade. So, you are increasing the ratio of muscarine to muscimol in the final product. Negative side effects from muscarine toxicity are more likely using paste concentrates than mushroom tea.
Most mushrooms bioaccumulate heavy metals. Extracting your mushrooms in acidified water will extract more heavy metals than using pH neutral water. Ibotenic acid and muscimol are both very water soluble and easily extracted into water. Steeping powdered amanita 5-10 min in 200F water is enough. Some stirring is helpful. Steeping whole mushrooms or mushroom pieces yields less actives than steeping powder.

They are vacuum packed and stored frozen at -20 C to preserve potency and also to create conditions that support continued more efficient decarboxylation of ibotenic acid (IBO) to muscimol compared to storing the mushrooms at room temperature. Decarboxylation of IBO to muscimol continues after the Amanita mushroom is dried according to the results of a somasupplies stability study. The rate of IBO degradation is slower at -20 compared to +20C. The colder temperature also slows the rate of muscimol degrading. So, Amanita stored for 10 months at -20C in vacuum packed packages may actually increase in potency if muscimol created from decarboxylation of ibotenic acid is 5-10X more potent than IBO. Over the 10 month duration, Ibotenic acid decreased by 50%. Muscimol increased in concentration 14X in a stability study with A muscaria powder. If the mushrooms are stored at room temperature, more IBO decarboxylates, but less muscimol accumulates. The same is true for drying amanita. Drying at 90F is better than 125F and far better than 170F.
Store your dried amanita in a sealed bag in the freezer to slow loss of potency. It really makes a difference! Remove as much air as possible.
